• The business is structured via two separate entities: a Kenyan company and a Seychelles company. The figures above reflect the consolidated figures of the two entities.
• The Kenyan company owns the hotel and the land and runs the business on site with all the local licences/authorisations/permits.
• It also pays taxes (VAT and 30% profit tax) in Kenya according to all the Kenyan tax rules.
• The Seychelles company has bank accounts in Mauritius and the bookkeeping is carried out from
Mauritius. It is a booking centre where all international bookings are processed and where most of the profits are booked. Seychelles offshore companies are not subject to any taxes, except the annual registration fees of the company (c. USD $100).
